Hello everyone! Thank you so much for viewing my blog, I really appreciate it! Just so that you guys can know me a bit more (and I hope that that doesn’t sound like every other introduction to a blog ever), my name is Olivia Knott and I am trying entirely too hard on making this “Info About the Author” section sound good.
Anyway, I think some information about me that would be important would be where am I from, right? Well, would you believe me if I told you that I was from the Bronx and that I have a thick, New York accent and that I used to be friends with the rats (my dawgs) in the subway stations? Or, would you call me a lair?
You would be right in chastening me. I was not born in the Bronx, but I was born in Brooklyn, Flatbush Ave, but I was only briefly there until my family moved to Greensboro, North Carolina when I was three. Some fun facts about me: I realized I could do the splits the other day, I write with my eyes closed, and if I had to live off of anything for the rest of my life, it would be the word of God, green apples, and M&M ice cream.
I am a first-year student in college (I figure that I ought to tell you where but I also find that somewhat perturbing so I will leave it elusive, dear reader). I am double majoring in English and Business with the long-term goal of being a book author with a realistic goal of working practically in some field of writing-whether that be publishing, or editing, or journalism, or marketing, or song-writing, or literally anything that involves a pen and imagination.
My biggest inspiration for writing is life and God. God is the greatest writer-the way that life is written is truly fascinating and nuanced. I feel as though writing shouldn’t be a fantasy to escape reality, but rather a story to help us face reality and understand life. I think that writing should be a way for us to further understand others, ourselves, and God. God writes stories in a very interesting way, like with the story of Joseph, David, Job, Daniel, and myself. These stories fascinate me; God makes twists and turns in everyone’s life with the intention of a good ending, and that inspires me for how I want to write my stories.
I really couldn’t write this section without mentioning how I came to know my biggest inspiration. I found God when I was about 15 during COVID quarantine. My mom put a Bible on me and my brother’s bedside table. I thought to myself “Well I already pray so I might as well read the Bible too.” I was really just curious, I wasn’t really expecting anything out of it because I had already believed I was a Christian. But, God truly fascinated me and I realized I never really knew Him at all before that. God still fascinates me a lot, and I think He is, by far, the most wonderous being that I have ever met.
To wrap it up, I will tell you about my lovely family and friends. My mom and my dad are both Jamaican immigrants and they have made my life beautiful and pleasant, and to them and God I give many thanks. My friends are the most amazing set of friends that I could have ever asked for, God truly did cook with the people that He has brought into my life and they inspire me always. (Also, shout out to Lukas Haggerty for inspiring me to start a blog!) I hope you all enjoy reading me ramble once more, and I hope that it made the corner of your mouths rise a bit.
